Caption on front of photograph reads: "17 April 1945. Lt. Col. J W Branch, Hope, Ark., Chief Surgeon, 6th Armored Division, 3rd U.S. Army, dresses body sores on Hungarian woman political prisoner at Former German concentration camp near Penig, Germany. Germans marched away all prisoners who could walk at the approach of American troops, only leaving behind those prisoners too ill to move. Women in the camp suffered from starvation, typhus, diphtheria and tuberculosis."
