Became a student at USF in 1969 as a transfer student from Manatee Community College, and graduated in 1971 with a double major in f inance and accounting. Describes the campus and student population during the late 1960s and the early 1970s as well as the political and social situation on campus and how it reflected the mood of the country at that time. Employment dur ing and after his college career and his use of the GI Bill. Describes how and why he became involved with the USF Sarasota/Manatee Alumni Association in 1989. Describes the University of South Florida's involvement with New College of Florida, as well a s the establishment of the University of South Florida Sarasota c ampus. Describes the Florida p olitical battle to grant funds to USF Sarasota and St. Petersburg vers u s the USF Tampa and Lakeland campuses. The founding of the USF Sarasota/Manatee Communi ty Leadership Council ; this council le d to the "reorientation of the perception of USF in the community The establishment of new honors programs as well as the establishment of new fields of study in the USF Sarasota c ampus.
