AbdAllah, Jumua Omar.
[In the name of God the most compassionate and the most merciful].
Refugee camp, Eastern Chad,
Wax Crayons on Drawing Paper.
The Arabic text in the drawing can be translated as, "In the name of God the most compassionate and the most merciful," and "Tank" among others.
This picture was drawn by an 11 year old Darfuri boy whose village was attacked when he was only 7 years old. The pictures he draws are based on the memory of what he saw being done to his village. The drawing depicts a woman trying to surrender but who is being shot at by someone with a machine gun mounted on a pickup truck. A helicopter that was used to attack the village, attackers who came riding camels and on horses, and an armored tank are all depicted in the drawing.
