Mohammed, Saleh Adam.
[Attacking a village in Darfur].
Refugee camp, Eastern Chad,
Wax crayons on drawing paper.
On the back side of the drawing is Arabic text that translates to: "In the name of Allah the most compassionate and the most merciful. Name: Saleh Adam Mohammed. In the second grade, from the city of Fouz Bida, state of Dar Subla. I was born in city of Kubar. When we moved to Fouz Bida I was 8 years old, now I'm 12. I spent 4 years in this place."
This drawing was created by a 12-year old Darfuri boy, and he depicts his village in Darfur being attacked when he was 8 years old. The drawing shows crops that were destroyed by a militia group, people being killed, and houses being burned down. Militia men on camel backs, some on foot and others in trucks are seen attacking a village.
