Adam, Abd Assamad Muhammed.
[In the name of God the most compassionate and the most merciful].
Refugee camp, Eastern Chad,
Pencil on paper.
On the front part of the drawing is Arabic text that translates to," In the name of God the most compassionate and the most merciful." Arabic text on the back side of the drawing translates to, "Name: Abd Assamad Muhammed Adam. I lived in Sudan for 5 years and Chad 3 years. I'm eight now."
This drawing by an 8 year old Darfuri boy depicts the Sudan military and a government sponsored militia group shooting and killing children in a Darfuri village. Houses in the villages are seen being burnt down after being shelled by helicopter gunships and tanks. Trucks mounted with guns that fire mortar rounds were also used to pound villages and the militia men came on horse and camel backs to finish off whoever tried to escape from the villages.
