Abstract:
Drawing that depicts a Janjaweed militia group attacking a village in Darfur. Houses are on fire after being bombed, and militia members are chasing and shooting villagers. There is a villager lying dead outside of homes that are burning down while others are trying to hide under trees.
General Note:
Arabic text on the drawing translates to, "Date: May 23, 2007 A.C / correspondent to 1428 Islamic lunar calendar. In the name of God the compassionate and the merciful. My name is Mubarak Ahmad." Arabic text on the back of the drawing translates to, "My name: Mubarak Ahmad. The reason behind our migration to Chad is that the Janjaweed were killing my relatives unjustly."
