Scope and Content:
Collection includes letters and Victory Mail (V-mail) written by John A. Branch to his wife Grace while he was stationed with the Army in Europe during World War II.  Also includes are letters written before the couple married, letters written while Mr. Branch was recuperating from war injuries, photos, and miscellaneous papers.

Biographical:
John A. Branch (b. 1908) served as an Army private in Europe during World War II. He earned a purple heart for wounds received while stationed in France. During his tour of duty in Europe, and while recovering from war injuries, Branch wrote numerous letters to Grace Gleaton, who later became his wife. Branch was admitted to the Florida Bar in December 1936. After his military service, he maintained a law office in Tampa for many years. Grace Branch (1904-1994) was appointed chairman of the Hillsborough County Historical Commission in 1949. She died in August of 1994 and was laid to rest in her childhood hometown of Lutz, Florida.
