Additional items detail Kashdin's career as an artist and her professional affiliation with numerous organizations and associations. Printed documents, such as reports and professional correspondence, make up the vast majority of the collection. The collection also contains numerous articles, newspaper clippings and photographs.

Biographical:
Dr. Gladys Shafran Kashdin was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in 1921. A painter, photographer and collagist, Kashdin is a well-respected artist and professor whose artistic repertoire includes nearly 70 one-woman shows, 55 group exhibitions and the donation of American Abstract Expressionist research to the Smithsonian Institution. Her artistic series, which have been exhibited at numerous museums, include "The Everglades," "Processes of Time," and "Gaia's Daughters." Professor Emerita at the University of South Florida, Kashdin is recognized for her creative and professorial achievements.
