Scope and Content:
One box of primarily black and white photographs of Tampa, including twelve 8” X 10” photos and 31 photos of varying sizes.  Also includes two holograph letters written by Schulz to Leland Hawes.

Biographical:
Louise Heur Schulz was born in the Gary section of Tampa, FL in 1924.  Her father, Richard Heur, a German immigrant, worked as a picture framer for the Burgert Brothers commercial photography studio.  An amateur photographer, Heur was a member of a local camera club that included such members as Florida photographer C. Verne Klintsworth and Tampa Tribune columnist Phil Barney.  It is not known whether Heur took the photographs included in this collection; except for a few aerial photographs identifying W.E. Kitchen (possibly of the Mitchell Flying School on Davis Islands, Tampa) as the photographer, the photographer of most of the photos is unidentified.  Highlights of the collection include aerial photographs of downtown Tampa and images of Tampa after the 1921 hurricane.
Ownership:
Transferred by Schulz to Leland Hawes for subsequent donation to the USF Tampa Library Special Collections.
