Biographical:
Wyatt Blassingame was born in Alabama in 1909, attended Howard College, and graduated from the University of Alabama. He began his career as a writer in the 1930s as a reporter for the Montgomery Advertiser. Blassingame then moved to New York and began writing suspense stories for "pulp" magazines until 1936, when he and his wife moved to Anna Maria, Florida. Blassingame then began writing articles for many national publications, including the Saturday Evening Post, Collier's Redbook, and Harper's. During World War II, he served in the Navy and received a bronze star as well as a Presidential Unit Citation. For several years, Blassingame taught at Manatee Junior College and at Florida Southern College in Lakeland. He has written many adult and children's books, both fiction and non-fiction, as well as short stories, anthologies and textbooks.
