Biographical:
William E Allen was born in 1913 and graduated from Summerlin High School. Allen attended multiple vocational and labor schools to learn the trade of carpentry. He joined his first union-- Carpenters Local # 696-- in 1940 and his second-- Office and Professional Employees International Union-- in 1950. Allen served as the Secretary and Treasurer of the FLA AFL-CIO for over 29 years (1950-1979), and held administrative positions in the Carpenters Local # 696 and Southern States Apprenticeship Conferences as well.
