Born in March of 1824 in South Carolina, Colonel Francis H. Ederington relocated to Hernando County, Florida in 1851, bringing with him his wife, Precious Ederington, their nine children, and eleven slaves. The Ederingtons purchased the manor home located on the property known today as Chinsegut Hill, built in 1842 by Colonel Byrd Pearson after acquiring the land under the Armed Occupation Act of 1842. Francis Ederington died in 1866, followed by the death of his wife three years later. The property was inherited by their daughter, who married a South Carolina physician by the name of J.R. Snow.  The plantation became known as Snow Hill, and it remained with the Snow family until it was sold to Raymond Robins in 1905 and renamed "Chinsegut Hill."
