The majority of the records contained in this collection are related to Krauss Brothers Lumber Corporation’s involvement with the International Concatenated Order of the Hoo-Hoo. There are numerous photographs of Krauss Brothers’ employees participating in Hoo-Hoo sponsored events. There are also other printed documents associated with the Hoo-Hoo organization. Two roll books contain hand-written information about employee sick days.

Biographical:
Krauss Brothers opened a wholesale lumber yard on Ellamae Avenue in Tampa circa 1930, and then moved to 1205 13supth/sup Street circa 1945. The company is listed in Polk’s Tampa City Directory from 1930 to 1973 after which time it is unclear as to their continued business in the Tampa area. In the directory, there is also mention of an affiliate in Miami from 1930 onward. Employees of Krauss Brothers Lumber were members of the International Concatenated Order of the Hoo-Hoo, which is a fraternal organization to support business and personal relationships between those employed in the forest products industry. It was begun in 1892 and draws its membership through invitation and nomination.
