Scope and Content:
This collection contains two scrapbooks of Tampa attorney Henry H. Cole containing newspaper clippings, photographs, pamphlets, letters, and other materials relating to Cole’s life and activities. The contents of the scrapbook deal primarily with his professional life, his involvement in fraternal orders, particularly Egypt Temple Shrine, and his military activities in the Florida National Guard.

Biographical:
Henry Hubert Cole, the son of Clarence A. and Bertha Elizabeth Cole, was born in Winterset, Iowa, July 9, 1891. He attended Northwestern University where he earned his bachelor’s and law degrees. He practiced law in Chicago for over a year before moving to Tampa for health reasons. Cole also served in the military, for two years as an Infantry Captain during World War I and for six years during World War II, reaching the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. Cole established a successful law practice in Tampa after the war, Cole and Dyer, with partner Thomas A. Dyer, was a captain in the local National Guard unit, engaged in real estate and other business activities, and was active in the American Legion, the Knights of the Mystic Shrine, and other organizations. Cole died in 1960.
