Scope and Content:
The bulk of this collection consists of printed materials, such as papers, memoranda, course syllabi and course materials written by Dr. Arnade. There is also an autobiography and interview documenting Dr. Arnade's personal life. The largest percentage of materials encompasses Dr. Arnade's forty-plus years as professor at the University of South Florida. Also accompanying the papers are publications written by Dr. Arnade that were removed from their original source to be added to the collection.

Biographical:
Dr. Charles W. Arnade was born in Goerlitz, Germany on May 11, 1927 and died September 7, 2008 in Leesburg, VA. Dr Arnade was a distinguished professor and Emeritus of the University of South Florida's International Studies for the College of Arts and Sciences. Dr. Arnade's PhD was in history and anthropology and the bulk of his teaching centered on Holocaust and Genocide studies, Latin American studies, and Modern Political Theory. Dr. Arnade arrived at USF in 1960, is a charter member of the USF faculty, and has taught at a number of other American and foreign universities. He has written innumerable articles and book reviews, as well as six books and monographs. Dr. Arnade has taught and lived in Africa, Asia, Europe, and Latin America; he has traveled to over 120 nations and was named the USF Teacher of the Year in 1987 and 1990. He was the recipient of one of the Excellence in Teaching Awards granted by the State Legislature of Florida. He was founding president of the Pasco County (FL) NAACP Chapter, introduced Holocaust Studies at USF, and was noted for his classes on global Human Rights.
