Scope and Content:
The focus of this collection is on the personal papers of Martin Michael LaGodna, a former associate professor of History at USF, a driving force behind the Oral History Program at USF, and an Associate Director of the American Association of University Professors (AAUP). Included in the collection are journal entries written by LaGodna, article clippings, information about the Oral History Program, article drafts - including his Dissertation from Florida State University entitled, "The Florida State Department of Agriculture During The Administration of Nathan Mayo, 1923 - 1960." Also included in the collection are personal correspondences from 1960 - 1977 and photographs.

Biographical:
Martin Michael LaGodna was born in 1937 in Detroit, Michigan. He graduated from Eastern Michigan University with a BA in History, and received his Master's Degree in American History from Florida State University and his Ph. D. in History from the University of Florida. In 1967, LaGodna ran for Florida State Senate (District 7) on the Republican ticket, but was defeated by his opponent. LaGodna is a former associate professor at the University of South Florida, where he taught History and helped to pioneer the Oral History Program.
