Scope and Content:
The collection contains a small diary written by Amélie Henriquel-Dupont from 1871 during the Franco-Prussian War (1870 - 1871), as well as correspondence, research materials and manuscript translations of the diary by Kevin Guinagh. The diary was discovered by an American soldier during World War II in the cellar of a chateau that had been under Nazi control. The diary discusses the conditions of the city of Paris during the war, her husband's work as a distinguished etcher, as well as personal details of the life of Amélie Henriquel-Dupont.

Amélie Henriquel-Dupont was fifty-seven years old when she composed the journal that details life in Paris during the Franco-Prussian War (1870 - 1871). Wife of distinguished etcher Louis-Pierre Henriquel-Dupont (1797 - 1892), Amélie was a devout Catholic and attended devotions frequently. Little else is known about her beyond some of the details in the translations of her diary.
