This collection contains papers from Paul W. Danahy, Jr.'s extensive career in public service, covering his legislative career (1966-1974), his service as Executive Director of the Local Government Study Commission (1963-1964), as attorney for the local legislative delegation (1959; 1964-1965), and as a judge both in the Thirteenth Judicial Circuit (1975-1977) and the Second District Court of Appeals (1977-1990). The collection was donated to USF with the intention of complimenting the collections of T. Terrell Sessums and Louis de la Parte, and covers the period in Florida history where political power began to shift from its rural to its urban areas. It documents the attempts to reform and improve the structure and services of Hillsborough County's local governments during urbanization, as well as the effects stemming from the constitutional changes Florida underwent during this same time.
