Notes

Abstract:
Representative incised design sherd (Safety Harbor period) from the Anderson Mound at the Jungle Prada Site Complex (8PI54). Note the partial (on broken edge) suspension hole and the surface designs. Archaeologists also examine the paste and tempering materials that the ceramics are made from which can indicate where a pot was made and perhaps how it may have circulated after production through gift exchange or long-distance trade. Sherd analysis may also provide important information about vessel size and morphology.
