The University of South Florida Fort Myers -Sarasota -St. Petersburg -Tampa 19811-85 PREFACE This is the second annual edition of the USF Fact Book. In this edition, the most current available information about the University is presented. The content and formats of the Fac t Book tables ar e consistent with those in last year's initial edition; therefore, year-to-year comparisons o f informatio n can be readily made. A few new tables have been added to the Fact Book. These have been marked with an asterisk o n the table of contents. One deals with the number of USF students attending evening classes; another shows enrollment in the BIS program; a third summarizes the of the Economic Impact Sturly. Also, a separate staffing table has been d eveloped for each of University's pay plans. Although the University's recent organizational change at the vice presidential leve l has been reflected in the Fact Book's organizatio nal chart, concomitant adjustments to t h e staffing tables could not be made so close to our printing deadline. The change to a smaller print for the document results fro m using the University's laser printer. Although initially requiring much programming work, this cha nge saved many hour s of clerical r 1ork and will allow publication of future editions earlier in the fall term. As you use the Fact Book, please advise the Office of Institutiona l Research of additions or modifications which you feel would be improvements. The gtaff of Institutional Research appreciated t h e many kind comments received regarding last year's book. This year we plan to further promote the use of the Fact Book as a ready source of information. Again this year, we sincerely thank the many offices that assisted with the development of information about their areas. ,-\ [/ .)1l 1 1 -1)l( Susan M.
