The University of South Florida Fort Myers -Sarasota -St. Petersburg -Tampa 1985-86 PREFACE The University of South Florida is a public, comprehensive, metropolitan undergraduate and graduate university. It enrolls over 28,000 students in 90 undergraduate areas, 84 master's and specialist programs and 19 doctoral programs, including the M.D. The University's faculty of over 1,500 members delivers instruction in eleven colleges and on four campuses. To assist you in knowing more about the University of South Florida, this Fact Book presents information about our students, programs, faculty, staff and instructional, financial, and physical resources. The information selected for inclusion reflects the questions most frequently asked by the University's many publics. This third, annual edition of the Fact Book follows the general format of the prior editions; therefore, year-to-year comparisons of information can be readily made. This year the tables regarding faculty and staff have been modified to provide more complete information in more consistent formats. Also, tables regarding SUS Service Area Demographics, International Students, State Appropriations for Education, Program Accreditations, and Campus Construction have been added. The staff of the Office of Resource and Policy Analysis sincerely thanks the many offices that contributed materials for this Fact Book. Susan H. Mitchel Director Office of Resource & Policy Analysis iii
