Scope and Content:
This collection contains the working papers of the Community Concert Association of Tampa. It includes programs, posters, flyers, legal documents, financial documents (including treasury reports), Board Meeting minutes, Annual Meeting minutes, and contracts, as well as correspondence. The collection provides information on the activities of the association in developing quality entertainment for the Tampa community. There is also detailed information on the mechanics of how the organization developed and staged its many concerts from 1959 - 1983.

Biographical:
Community Concerts began in the 1920s, and in 1927 became the largest, most enduring network of performing arts presenters that has ever existed. In 1930, a group of artists' managers in New York City formed Columbia Artists Management, Inc., which would adopt Community Concerts, making it a part of the venture. From 1945 through 1950, the total number of Community Concert Associations rose from 330 to 1008. In 1993, Community Concerts and Columbia Artists Management began the process of dissolving their relationship.
