    Abstract
In a collaborative project between the USF Libraries Oral History Program and the USF Patel Center for Global Solutions, oral historian William Mansfield conducted interviews on land use in West Central Florida. Focusing on land use in Hillsborough County, Mansfield interviewed 19 individuals including: the founder of an organic community farm, a former cattle rancher, a homemaker and neighborhood association activist, an urban planning specialist, executive director of the Florida Strawberry Growers Association, and the Hillsborough County director of Planning and Zoning services. Topics discussed in these interviews include development and planning, zoning policy, agricultural preservation, ecotourism, urban sprawl, and New Urbanism. This collection emphasizes the many competing interests that influence land use and the complexities of managing growth. (Summary)
