bioghist altrender Administrative History 545 Administrative History:
In 1894 Reverend Isaac W. Bearss brought his family, friends, and several fellow church members from Missouri to the Carrollwood/Lake Magdelene area of Hillsborough County where he established Florida's first United Brethren Church (later, the Lake Magdalene United Methodist Church). The Bearss family played a significant social and economic role in the northern part of Hillsborough County. Bearss Avenue and Lake Magdalene were named in honor of the family.
