In this collection, Jenifer Jasinski Schneider describes her approach to the analysis of student-made films that are inclusive of print-based and media-based elements. She provides examples of her methods for analyzing these films to determine the creators’ semiotic contributions to meaning making. Using data from a field-based project in which elementary students and teacher candidates collaboratively created a film to share disciplinary content, Jenifer provides an overview of the project by sharing instructional examples across iterations (Context). She also provides details regarding her analytical procedures, illustrating the process through data examples from one group of focus participants (Composing Process). In addition, she explicates her approach to analyzing student-made films by framing each mode of analysis of one student-made film (Film Analysis).
